A Word From Tommy...

"My dream, from the age of eight, was to emulate heroes like Mickey Mantle.  His passion for the game of baseball and his determination to play even when injured made a lasting impression on me.  He, and others like him, truly loved the game and were unafraid to accept the challenges along the road to success- obstacles which would have caused those with weaker character to give up.  I knew then that I would not lose hope and pursue my dream of playing of playing professional baseball.

I was fortunate enough to have a loving, dedicated, church-involved family who raised me with respect, discipline and manners.  This happy home, together with much hard work, allowed me to fulfill my dream: after being drafted in the second round with the Cleveland Indians out of Jacksonville University, I played eight seasons of professional baseball.

Having achieved success and the fulfillment of my greatest wish, my professional baseball career came to an end.  I found myself seeking a career that would be as equally rewarding.  A good friend introduced me  to a gentleman who would become my mentor, Mr. Bob Cruikshank, owner of Metropolitan Tractor Company of Atlanta (Metrac) in 1980.  My life was once again set on a new goal:  to sell quality new and used John Deere construction equipment.  Another wonderful path of building new friendships and relationships had been opened to me that continues today.

After 25 years with Metrac Equipment our family made the decision to relocate to Thomasville, Georgia from Atlanta, Georgia in February, 2006.  This move brought about the beginning of a new chapter in our lives-- the establishment of McMillan Machinery Sales, L.L.C.  A new dream had begun.

McMillan Machinery Sales, L.L.C provides quality previously owned late model equipment to contractors and dealers throughout the United States.  As Mickey Mantle sold the game of baseball, my goal now is to continue what I love to do-- SELL!
